About...
The Alhambra is a real time rendering project created by Johannes Scharl and Stefan Fahrngruber. Johannes participated in the "Real Time Rendering" course at the
Vienna University of Technology. To spice up the project, he asked Stefan, who studies at the
University of Applied Arts Vienna, to join and form an inter-disciplinary team.
In the previous months, Johannes created a real time rendering framework based on DirectX 10 capable of various effects [see featured effects list for details]. Inspired by Johannes' vacation photographs and an illustrated book of the Alhambra, Stefan created a concept of a ruin based on moorish architecture. Stefan was responsible for the content creation. The aim was to demonstrate next gen graphic effects in an appealing and interesting setting, without further stressing the usual demo-scene techno/sci-fi/robot cliche.
